The Challenge
Forge Fitness is an independent gym in Sheffield with experienced coaches, a tight-knit community and a quality of environment that budget chains simply cannot match. But budget chains have one very visible advantage: low prices. Kirsty, the owner, found that potential members would visit the website, see the membership price, and leave without understanding what they were actually getting for it.
Membership churn was higher than it should have been. Organic social content was inconsistent and did not reflect the standard of the facility or the coaching. The gym was not using paid social at all. Kirsty knew that if people could see the real Forge Fitness, they would stay. The problem was getting them through the door in the first place and giving them enough context to make that decision with confidence.
What We Did
- Rebuilt the content strategy around three pillars: member results, community moments, and coaching expertise
- Launched a member spotlight series featuring real members sharing their stories in their own words
- Set up Facebook and Instagram retargeting ads offering a free trial session to people who had visited the website
- Ran a Google review campaign through Instagram Stories, increasing the gym's review volume significantly
- Built a post-trial content sequence so free trial visitors continued to see genuine member content in the days after their visit
